Love Swedish music!

The Swedes are famous for their extraordinary sense for design, fashion and trends, their creativity and, of course, their GREAT MUSIC. Indeed, a lot of cool and successful bands are coming from this lovely Nordic country. So, if you really want to experience Sweden in all its facets and you haven’t already discovered some Swedish bands for yourself, you should absolutely do it – the sooner the better.

The Swedish music scene has quite a tradition with famous bands like ABBA, Roxette, Ace of Base or the Cardigans, but I am personally more excited about the ‘newer’ Swedish music wave and there are a couple of Swedish bands that I clearly count among my favourites.

One good example is the rocking duo Johnossi from Stockholm. I really love their music and their concerts are electrifying. I have already seen them live a couple of times and I would like to see one of their shows again – for sure.

Then, I definitely have to mention Friska Viljor here – an indie rock band from Stockholm as well. I have heard their albums again and again, have seen them live several times and I have some nice memories with friends that are directly linked to their songs.

Moreover, there is The Tallest Man on Earth, a folk singer songwriter from Dalarna with a great voice and amazing guitar skills. Because of his stunning voice he is often compared to Bob Dylan. He is performing an incredible one-man show! In contrast, I’m From Barcelona, a pop group from Jönköping, are sometimes with 29 people on stage. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen them live yet, but I really like their music which covers a lot of different styles from folk to electronic.

And do you know the singer songwriter Lykke Li? She is originally from Ystad, a small town in Skåne, quite close to Lund. Lykke Li is a great artist and her impressive music combines different styles (folk, indie, hip hop, electronic…) and instruments. She is also known for her amazing and powerful live performances, which I can only approve from my own experience!

I could easily continue this list by naming further great Swedish bands such as Peter, Björn and John, Shout Out Louds, The Hives, Mando Diao, The International Noise Conspiracy, José González, Junip, Eskobar, Those Dancing DaysThe Sounds, Daniel Norgren

But enough for now! If I aroused your interest, there is a small playlist of songs on our YouTube channel. Please, have a look!

At long last, a nice documentary about Swedish artists in Stockholm:

I hope I could give you some musical inspiration or at least an impulse to listen to your favourite Swedish bands once again, crank it up and maybe just dance! That is what I will definitely do right now! :)

Did I miss anyone? Who is your coolest act from Sweden?
